WORLDS ‘HIGHEST-LARGEST-HEAVIEST’  TRICOLOUR AND ETERNAL FLAME

It was truly a historical moment when the monumental Tricolour of dimensions 37.5 feet by 27 feet weighing 15 Kg was hoisted at Kargil War Memorial on 25 July 2012 to commemorate 13th Operation Vijay Diwas celebrations. Sincere, enthusiastic and organized planning was involved in transportation of the mast weighing more than three tons and a height of 101 feet. This is the first of its kind in J & K and only of its kind at an altitude of 11027 feet at ‘ground Zero’ where Kargil War was fought .

Eternal Flame immortalises the Martyrs. Eternal Flames are most often used to commemorate an event of national significance.  Fire is central to all vedic rituals.  As the most potent and visible form of energy, useful but destructive at the same time, it was both feared and revered by the vedic people.  The Upanishads describe soul as an ‘Atman’ or flame of the size of a thumb.  In our ancient mythology, no sacrifice is complete without presence of Agni.  His presence verily ensures the success of a sacrifice because whatever sacrifice he accepts, goes to the Gods.
Eternal Flame designed to be lit 24 x 7 symbolising the imperishable and deathless deeds of our soldiers was lit amidst the chants of all religious priests praying for the departed souls, on 18 May 2012 at the Kargil War Memorial, Drass.
